You can install the connector on a physical server, on a virtual machine on-premises, or in the cloud.

Memory

The default configuration requires the server to have a minimum of 8 GB RAM and an additional 256 GB HD for logging and storage. You can adjust the configuration to reduce memory usage.

CPU

For the default values in the configuration, the server needs a minimum of 4-core CPUs.
The memory and CPU requirements also depend on the requirements provided by GAP. The machine should fulfill the basic requirements needed to run GAP simulators.

Software

  • Windows Server 2016 or later.
  • A Windows account with admin rights to install the connector.
  • Access to the Windows machine, for instance through VPN.
  • .NET 8.0 runtime.
  • PETEX OpenServer license.
  • The PETEX simulators; GAP or GAP. The connector has been tested on PETEX IPM v11.5 - v13.5.

Dedicated environment

The GAP connector requires a dedicated environment where it’s the only service interacting with OpenServer. No other processes, connectors, third-party applications, or custom integrations can use OpenServer in the same environment.If you encounter issues while running the connector in an environment with other OpenServer processes, we may be unable to offer support.Recommendation: Install the GAP connector on a dedicated virtual machine (VM) or physical server.

Network access

  • If the VM is behind a firewall, allow access to the endpoint: https://{cluster}.cognitedata.com. For example, if the project is in the Europe 2 (Microsoft) cluster, then this endpoint is https://westeurope-1.cognitedata.com.
