3D models
Upload 3D models in Cognite Data Fusion (CDF) to visualize and contextualize data.
About 3D models
Use the articles in this section to learn how to upload and contextualize 3D models, set thresholds, and create and manage scenes in CDF. You can upload large 3D models to Cognite Data Fusion (CDF) to better visualize and contextualize data. CDF automatically analyzes and optimizes the 3D models to enable devices with different form factors to render the models at high frame rates and with great detail. From Upload 3D models in Cognite Data Fusion (CDF), you can upload 3D models and revisions to CDF without writing any code. CDF supports CAD files from common systems and standard formats such as RVM, OBJ, and FBX. In CDF, you can delete 3D models, and publish, unpublish, and delete revisions. From Upload 3D models in Cognite Data Fusion (CDF), you can upload 3D models and revisions to CDF without writing any code. CDF supports CAD files from common systems and standard formats such as RVM, OBJ, and FBX. You can upload 360° images to Cognite Data Fusion (CDF) and display them in various applications with the Reveal 3D viewer. 360° images are captured as part of a point cloud scan, such as an E57 format file, but you can also capture and upload them manually or using robots. With large point clouds, we don't recommend using the Upload 3D Models feature in Cognite Data Fusion (CDF). This is due to longer upload times and potential file transfer failures. With the manual contextualization of CAD models, you can map assets to 3D objects, improving the assets discoverability when using search. You can contextualize point clouds in two ways: by manually creating each object you want to contextualize or by leveraging the point cloud's segmentation. You must use both services to achieve a fully contextualized point cloud. You can contextualize 360° images by manually uploading 360° image files and using a single select file for contextualization or leveraging the 360° image contextualization within a scene. With Scene, the 3D users can see all the 3D data related to one physical location in one view. Setting thresholds enables you to view color overlays in 3D. The overlays highlight the objects in the 3D model and change the colors of nodes based on selected thresholds for contextualized data on assets and time series. When you import RVM files, CDF uses the same standard colors as Autodesk Navisworks.📄️ Introduction to 3D models
