SAP writeback service

Use the SAP writeback service to create or update records in your SAP S/4HANA system.

Supported SAP entities

The SAP writeback service connects to SAP standard delivered OData V2.0 endpoints available in SAP S/4HANA. It supports the following SAP entities:

• Maintenance notifications
• Attachments

Supported SAP versions

The SAP writeback supports the following SAP S/4HANA versions:

• SAP S/4HANA OnPremise 2021 FPS01, and later
• SAP S/4HANA Cloud

Before you start

• Make sure you register the Cognite API and applications in Microsoft Entra ID and set up Microsoft Entra ID and CDF groups to control access to CDF data.

• To setup and use the SAP writeback service, you need the following CDF capabilities:

  • sapwriteback:READ and sapwriteback:WRITE to setup SAP destinations, endpoints, and mappings
  • sapwritebackrequests:write and sapwritebackrequests:list to send and list writeback requests

• Make sure the SAP destination endpoints are active and accessible from outside your intranet.

• Make sure the SAP user has authorization to call SAP OData services.
