Upload 3D models and revisions
From Upload 3D models in Cognite Data Fusion (CDF), you can upload 3D models and revisions to CDF without writing any code. CDF supports CAD files from common systems and standard formats such as RVM, OBJ, and FBX.
Upload a 3D model
-
Navigate to Data management > Configure > 3D.
-
Select New > Model and follow the wizard to create the model and upload the initial revision of the model.
Upload a revision to an existing 3D model
-
Navigate to Data management > Configure > 3D.
-
Select the model you want to add a new revision to.
-
In the resource selector, select ... > Upload new revision and follow the wizard to upload a new revision of the model.
CDF shows what type of 3D data, CAD or point cloud, is used for each model based on the type of last revision. Use revisions in a 3D model for the same type of 3D data and the physical site. The revisions reflect different points in time in a CAD model or a point cloud model.
Use only one type of 3D data within each model ID.
Upload 3D models using the API and SDKs
To upload multiple 3D models programmatically using our API and SDKs, for instance for nightly updates, see Upload 3D models programmatically.
Upload large point clouds
Use the Cognite API with a custom script to upload point clouds. This upload approach is recommended if the total size of point cloud files is larger than 1 GB, stored locally as multiple files, and you are on a slow and unreliable network. See Upload point clouds for more information.
