# Security

> Learn about Cognite security principles, shared responsibility model, and identity and access management.

<Note>
  Corporate security, compliance, and privacy controls are documented on the [Cognite Trust Center](https://trust.cognite.com/). This page describes how security applies to CDF, including the shared responsibility model.
</Note>

## Shared security responsibility

Depending on the type of service you select, some security protections are built into the service, while others are your responsibility. With CDF, security is a collaboration between the **customer**, **Cognite**, and the **cloud service provider** (for example, Microsoft or Google).

## Identity and access management in CDF

CDF integrates with your organization's identity provider (IdP) so you can manage access and data governance with existing user identities. For setup and capabilities, see [Identity and access management](/cdf/access/index) and [Control access to data](/cdf/access/guides/capabilities).
