# About Integrations

> Learn about Integrations in Cognite Data Fusion (CDF) for setting up and monitoring on-premises extractors.

<Info>
 Integrations is in [public preview](/cdf/product_feature_status#public-preview) and may change. If you do not see Integrations in your project, contact [Cognite Support](/cdf/support/index) or your Cognite representative.
</Info>

**Integrations** is a CDF tool for setting up and monitoring **integrations** from Data fusion > Integrate > Integrations. An **integration** is a registered data path into CDF, such as a Cognite DB, File, or OPC UA extractor on your infrastructure. It is not the same as [data integration](/cdf/integration/concepts/about_data_pipelines).

Creating an integration creates the integration resource only. It does **not** create an extraction pipeline. The **Extraction pipelines** experience remains available during the transition to Integrations.

<Info>
 Do not use the Integrations path and the Extraction pipelines path for the same external ID at the same time.
</Info>

## What you can do

* Select Set up to open Extractors and choose a supported on-premises extractor.
* Download and install the extractor, then complete the **connection**. When the connection succeeds, the extractor has finished startup and check-in with CDF.
* On the Configuration tab, paste your local configuration file content. Remote configuration is keyed by the integration external ID.
* After the connection succeeds, monitor **tasks** in Task log and open a row for Task run details.
* Set email notifications from the integration menu with Edit notifications.
* On the Errors tab, review structured failures by severity and type, and open the related **task**.
* Trigger remote actions on the extractor from CDF, for example start or stop a task. The extractor picks up actions on the next check-in.
