# About the Cognite OSDU extractor

> Connect to the OSDU Data Platform and ingest data into Cognite Data Fusion (CDF).

The **Cognite OSDU extractor** connects to the Open Group [OSDU™ Data Platform](https://osduforum.org) and ingests data into CDF. Configurable OSDU records, such as wells, wellbores, and well logs, are ingested into the [CDF staging area](/cdf/integration/guides/extraction/raw_explorer) (RAW). Linked data files are streamed to the [CDF files service](/api-reference/concepts/20230101/files).

The extractor performs a full data transfer in the first run and keeps polling for changes in OSDU to propagate the data to CDF.
