# Server requirements

> Hardware, software, and network requirements for running the Cognite EDM extractor on physical servers, virtual machines, or cloud environments.

## Memory

* **Minimum**: 4GB RAM / 30 GB storage
* **Recommended**: 8GB RAM / 30 GB storage (for intensive extractions or large amounts of historical records)

## CPU

* **Minimum**: 2-core CPU
* **Recommended**: 4-core CPU (for intensive extractions or large amounts of historical records)

## Software

* **For .jar installation**: Java Runtime Environment is required
* **For Docker container**: Docker environment is required

## Network access

* Username and password for connecting to the Halliburton DSIS/EDM environment
* Network access with firewall openings to the CDF cluster and CDF project
